Programs in Architecture

An accredited, professional Bachelor of Architecture degree can be pursued with a major in architecture. It requires 157 semester credit hours and normally takes five years, or ten semesters, to complete. The curriculum includes a pre-professional and professional sequence that emphasizes architectural history, technology, and design. A majority of professional courses are taken in the design studio sequence.

The Bachelor of Architecture program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Most states require aspiring architects to hold an accredited degree.

For more information, visit the Department of Architecture web site.

Programs in Architectural Studies

The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies incorporates coursework from the School of Architecture with liberal studies for students with interests in related fields that may not require the five-year accredited degree. It also provides opportunities for students who wish to prepare for graduate study in an accredited architecture program or in an allied discipline, such as architectural history, historic preservation, urban planning, or construction management.

Programs in Landscape Architecture

An accredited, professional Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree can be pursued with a major in landscape architecture. It requires 157 semester credit hours and normally takes five years, or ten semesters, to complete. In landscape architecture, the professional core begins in the first year and includes design, construction, and history and theory sequences.

The Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program is accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). Most states require an accredited degree in landscape architecture to apply for professional licensure.
